Activities
The Club has a variety of activities including year round field trips, summer
evening walks and monthly indoor meetings featuring guest presenters.
For over 40 years, members of South Peel Naturalists’ Club have organized and
participated in the annual Christmas Bird Count – a record of bird species and
numbers sighted in Mississauga / Oakville on count day – which is scheduled
each year for the Saturday prior to Christmas.
At the end of May each year, the Club organizes a weekend ‘retreat’ to the Red Bay area
of the Bruce Peninsula, to explore the unique flora and fauna of its shorelines, lakes,
alvars, fens, forests, fields, dunes, and of course, the Niagara Escarpment.
